With the help of her family and friends, Joyette Kendig opened Divine Consign on September 1, 2004. A long time passion for a bargain and a desire to work close to home were driving forces in opening the store.
Having shopped in consignment stores, thrift shops and people’s garages for years, Joyette opened the shop with a clear mission: “I want to have a shop I’d want to shop in”. For her, this means a unique and friendly shopping experience, clean, organized, quality merchandise and of course, a value for your hard earned dollar.
Unlike most retail stores, the shop serves two types of customers: Those looking to buy and those looking to sell. It is great helping people sell items they no longer need to someone who has been searching for that very thing!
“Every day is like Christmas. I never know what we will get in or what people will bring me. I love watching people as they find little things that make them smile. Consignment shopping is like treasure hunting – some days you don’t find anything… and other days you hit the jackpot! We treasure hunters love the thrill of the hunt. It’s a sport.”
In our first year we doubled our size and added staff members to better serve our customers. We listened to what people have asked for and added more furniture and household décor. We also started to carry a modest collection of new gift items such as candles, soaps and baskets.
Every day we look for ways to serve our customers better. But Joyette will never be happy until EVERYONE leaves with the store with 2 big bags in their hands and a HUGE smile on their face.
